Join the League of California Cities API Caucus for an evening of remembrance, recognition, and community as we gather for this year’s API Caucus Reception.
This year’s gathering holds special meaning as we mark the 44th anniversary of Vincent Chin’s tragic murder, a hate-fueled act of anti-Asian violence that ignited a civil rights movement and continues to shape our fight against hate, racism, and discrimination today. As we honor Vincent Chin’s life and legacy, we reaffirm the API Caucus’ mission to advocate for API communities across California with dignity, solidarity, and courage. In that same spirit of advocacy, we are proud to continue our tradition of honoring an API Champion. This year, we are honored to recognize U.S. Congressman Ted Lieu as our 2026 Vincent Chin Civil Rights Champion. |

Congressman Lieu has long used his platform to speak out against anti-Asian hate, ethnic and racial profiling, and discrimination in all forms. His advocacy has reflected a deep commitment to civil rights, immigrant communities, and the protection of democratic freedoms.
We look forward to honoring Congressman Lieu at this year’s API Caucus Reception as we gather in community, reflect on Vincent Chin’s legacy, and recommit ourselves to the continued fight for dignity, equity, and justice.
Chaired by API Caucus Board Member & Cerritos Councilmember Frank Aurelio Yokoyama, this year’s reception will take place on the final day of the 2026 AAPI LEAD National Summit in Los Angeles, serving as a meaningful close to the national gathering.
