Fighting against AAPI hate is a top priority for the League of California Cities API Caucus. California is the most multicultural state in our Nation with a large and diverse Asian American and Pacific Islander population. As leaders, it’s our mission to serve and to advocate for the well-being of the AAPI communities throughout the state. Our Stop AAPI Hate Initiative has provided support and funding to organizations and projects aimed at fighting against discrimination and anti-Asian hate.
Funding the Anti-AAPI Hate Resource Guide Book
We are excited to announce the release of the Anti-AAPI Hate Resource Guide Book for Elected Officials and Public Affairs Professionals, funded by the League of California Cities API Caucus and published by the National Association of Asian Pacifics in Politics and Public Affairs. Fighting against discrimination, hate, and bigotry can be a real challenge for elected officials and public affairs professionals. This guide book contains lessons and best practices in fighting against AAPI hate.
For the first time in its history, the League of California Cities API Caucus provided $90,000 in direct support to local organizations dedicated to combating issues facing the AAPI community.
Sponsoring The Race Epidemic Documentary
We’re pleased to provide $50,000 in sponsorship for The Race Epidemic, a documentary that shed light on an epidemic of hate against Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) that exploded during the COVID-19 pandemic, and worsened by the irresponsible words of a former President, calling it the Chinese Virus. We will be co-hosting screenings across the state to raise awareness of the documentary and to amplify the voice of our communities, united against hate. Daly City Screening The League of California Cities API Caucus, in partnership with the Asian Pacific American Leadership Fund and the City of Daly City, hosted a special community screening in December, 2023.
